MEET OUR DOCTORS

 

 

BARBARA CAIN, DVM

 

Dr. Cain is a graduate of Oregon State University and has a Masters degree in biology in addition to her Doctorate in veterinary medicine.

 

She has conducted extensive research on elephants while working at the Oregon Zoo.  During her 5 years at the zoo, Dr Cain tended everything from elephants to naked mole rats.  She has owned Linwood Animal Clinic with her husband Scott, since January of 2006, and previous to that worked at Linwood for about three years. Dr. Cain enjoys the outdoors, likes to travel and to spend time with her family.  She shares her four pets with her husband Scott, and their four kids.

 

 

Dr. Emery, DVM

 

Dr. Emery has a BS degree in Animal Science from California Polytechnic State University and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the National University of Ireland.  Dr. Emeryʹs interest in Veterinary Medicine started when she was 8 years old.  She was active in 4H and began working in a veterinary clinic in High School.  Dr. Emery enjoys camping, hiking and hanging out with her family.  Dr. Emery and her fianceé Rob have twins that are 3 years old; a boy Ian and a girl Gioia. 

  

They also share their pets Maverick a 4 ˝ year old Golden Retriever, three cats Thielson, Guinness and Caiomhe (pronounced Kiva) and a Red Tail Boa named Rebel.

 

 

 

Dr. Johansen, DVM

 

Dr Johansen grew up on the east coast and attended St. Mary's College of Maryland where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology   She attended The Ohio State University veterinary college where she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  Dr Johansenʹs veterinary interests include exotics/pocket pets, surgery, and cardiology. 

Dr. Johansen started working at a local veterinary clinic in college as a kennel worker/assistant.  She kept a variety of pets growing up (snakes, frogs, ferrets, ducks, dogs, etc) and has always been really interested in animals and in science.  In her leisure time Dr. Johansen enjoys horseback riding, camping, hiking, and oil painting.  She shares her pets: 3 cats (India, Lincoln, Jake) and 2 ferrets (Tinkerbell, Yossarian), with her husband Kurt.
