We Remember Zeek
We had
been through good times and bad times, but we at least always had
each other. Zeek was my best friend, a constant loving
companion that could always make me laugh. Afraid of nothing,
he would go face-to-face with a pit bull only to start dancing and
trying to get the dog to play with him. Zeek always loved
walks in the sun and lazing around in the grass, stealing your shoes
and sometimes the socks right off your foot. Zeek was
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010 and was given a year to
live. It was the hardest day in my life to let you go my boy,
but you are in a better place now and you will never be forgotten.
Zeek, you are forever my white prince. I love you.

We Remember The Bohlmann Brothers

Mission
Accomplished! Together again, THE BOHLMANN BROTHERS, Jake & Elwood,
performing their RIP tour at The Rainbow Bridge with special guests:
Yogi Bear, Griz Lee Bear, CHOPPER, Solo Mio, Blackstones Thunder,
and performing her famous "BERDA BERDA BACK TWIRL", Silly Lily!
Their Feline Friends include: Snowball, Snicklefritz, Shadow,
Spooky, and KI KI!
The
painting of Jake and Elwood is based on the Blues Brothers poster
for their film and done by a co-worker of The Bohlmann Brothers’
mom. Jake & Elwood used to literally "do the hokey pokey" in
sync! Rescued at three years old, neither of them knew their names
(Zepher & Zeplin) or how to come, sit, eat out of a bowl, or sleep
on a bed. They both learned quickly what a "cookie" was, and loved
their new forever home and family. They loved Dr. Cain at Linwood
Animal Clinic. She took wonderful care of these brothers, and I
think I can say she relished in their growth as much as we did. A
special 'thank you' goes out to all the staff at Linwood Animal
Clinic for always being so kind to our pets and helping them to move
on with dignity. The Bohlmann Brothers are truly missed, but we
look forward to being backstage with them at the Rainbow Bridge when
our time comes! Dance Boys Dance!!!

We Remember Duker
Twelve years ago on Mothers Day my husband and 3 boys took me to the
Humane society in Huntington Beach, CA because they knew I wanted a
dog. Duker was in the very 1st run as I walked through the door, our
eyes met and the closer I got to him the more he wiggled and the
happier I got. I knew he was the dog I wanted and he was the one we
went home with.
I
lost Duker in late April 2009, he was my best friend and the best
companion my family and I could ever have. It has taken me a long
time to write this and I am still in tears. I will miss him, but I
know he is back to playing with the 3 cats he grew up with and is
happy chasing them around, probably a few squirrels too and out of
pain now. Thank you all at Linwood Animal Hospital for giving him
the best care possible!

We Remember Lacey
Lacey was a rescue dog, well sort of. Her Uncle Mike found her and
her sisters along the side of the road and brought them home. He was
unsure how long they had been there, or who abandoned them but he
did know they needed food and they were scared. Even though it was
night, and they were all black, Mike still noticed something odd and
pulled over. We are not sure how he saw them, or why at night he
would pull over for some strange acting animals in the brush. But
that was Mike. How do you say no to a puppy? Mike showed up with
four puppies in tow, claiming two had already been spoken for. That
didn’t matter as I knew the ONE I wanted as soon as she peed on our
floor. I think she knew this could be her new home if she just
marked her territory. Her dad and I were hooked. |
|
She won us over time and again from that day on. It may have taken
awhile to find the perfect name for her, but it had to be right, as
she was the perfect dog. We finally settled on Lacey. Puppies have
a way of growing on you fast, so when she started to chew, we
forgave her. When she chewed the linoleum in the bathroom, we
decided the bare cement floor was ok with us. And by the time she
destroyed the utility room, we had decided it was time to make some
changes in the flooring plan. We just kept saying, “Luckily we don’t
have carpet”.
Our backyard became her playground. Her toys littered the patio. But
her favorite adventure was hunting with her dad and Uncle Mike. It’s
a good thing they liked to hunt because I think she would have gone
with or without them if she could. Lacey was not exactly a morning
dog. She liked to sleep in, like her dad. But if she thought they
were going hunting she was up and waiting at the door. Some
mornings, her dad would get up and with all his gear ready to go,
but her sister Teal, which Mike owned, would get to go hunting with
them instead. Lacey would have to stay home. She always pouted. We
were never sure if it’s because she had to stay home or because she
got out of bed so early for nothing.
Lacey loved kids. She somehow realized they were not the same size
she was so she would flatten down and lick them eye to eye. She was
always gentle with them even if her size encumbered them. She looked
larger than she ever acted. She did the same with other dogs that
were smaller. Her bark was so much tougher than she really ever was.
Her size along with her bark would alarm any intruder. Unfortunately
her disposition could never live up to the tough exterior. Her Aunt
Jackie used to say, “She might be loud but as soon as you pet her,
she will lead you to the jewels.” Her favorite place was on the
couch between her dad and me; however there was seldom enough room
so she sprawled across our laps to get comfortable. She loved pizza
crust which her dad always shared with her and I seldom did, which
explains a few things too. Lacey was a faithful hunting partner, a
gentle companion and a couch hog. She will be missed by many.

We Remember Angel
Angel was so beautiful, inside and out. For over 10 years she was
my service dog, by the side of my wheelchair every single day. She
spent her first two years as a show dog, and the next two years of
her life in training, receiving her certification in 1998. Over the
years, we traveled together throughout the US, on planes, buses,
boats and public transportation, and we were welcomed everywhere we
went. Angel was a wonderful ambassador for service dogs everywhere
and the sweetest soul you could ever hope to meet. She passed away
in February, 2007 following several months of seizures from a
probable brain tumor. We love her and miss her so very much, but we
know she is playing ball and waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

We Remember Cera
Beloved "Cera" passed away on March 7th, 2007, following
a 3 month battle with kidney failure. She was 16 years old and the
best friend of her Mom, Diane Brown, who will miss her terribly.
This picture was taken in her early stages of illness and she looked
so peaceful and pretty. Thank you to all the people at Linwood
Animal Clinic for providing a place for us to share our precious
memories.
